Dry

by Edan Milner

Verse 1:         When I scan the daily headlines,

It makes me want to cry, but I’m dry.

When I hear a friend is ailing,

It makes me want to cry, but I’m dry.

When I ponder my tomorrows, I think I could cry …

But I haven’t got tears enough to moisten an eye;

I used them all a year ago when you said good-bye …

Now I’m dry.

Verse 2:         As I watch a golden sunset,

It makes me want to cry, but I’m dry.

And the sound of children playing,

It makes me want to cry, but I’m dry.

When I see young lovers walking, I think I could cry …

But I haven’t got tears enough to moisten an eye;

I used them all a year ago when you said good-bye …

Now I’m dry.

Bridge:           Maybe someday some sad movie or a gloomy old song

            Will melt this chunk of ice that’s been my heart for so long;

            And should the floodgates open and the tears again flow,

            Then I’ll know, I’ve finally let you go.

Verse 3:         On the days I wake up early,

It makes me want to cry, but I’m dry.

If I’m out late with my sorrow,

It makes me want to cry, but I’m dry.

When you wander through my memories, I think I could cry …

But I haven’t got tears enough to moisten an eye;

I used them all a year ago when you said good-bye …

   Now I’m dry.
